Bumblebee Helmet Hits The Christmas List – In July!

Someone must be doing some serious advertising as my 8 year old has started his Christmas list already with the new Bumblebee Toy from Transformers 2 – the Bumblebee Helmet.  He tried to tell me it was only £9.99 but I was way ahead of him having written a little intro to the new Revenge of The Fallen toys range and knew he’d missed the ’3′ from the front. Anyway it was no surprise for me to read today that it is number 2 in Hamley’s top 10 toy predictions for this Christmas along with the Transformers Movie Leaders at number 3.

Bumblebee Helmet – What Does It Do?

Watch your Transformers 2 Toys fan dress up just like the movie character with this voice mixer helmet complementing any Bumblebee costume. This Bumblebee Helmet has three different modes. In voice mixer mode your voice gets remixed with six different music styles so you speak through music just like Bumblebee. In conversion mode the helmet plays realistic conversion sounds of Bumblebee changing from a car to a robot and back again. And in movie phrase mode it says various battle phrases including ”Bumblebee to the rescue!” and ”Your Mission: Protect the world from evil”. The helmet fits head sizes ages 5 through to adult.

Bumblebee Helmet – Is It Any Good?

If your child wants to look and sound like Bumblebee, the detailing on this helmet is great. The various modes and electronic features will no doubt keep them busy for a while. This role play toy will help them act our their favourite movie scenes and will encourage imaginative play. Group play is ideal for this type of toy. The easy-to-adjust straps help you get a comfortable fit and ensure this Bumblebee toy fits everyone. It is also quick to adjust to swap between children and/or adults. Overall this is a cool toy for children but can also be plenty of fun for adults and certainly offers a prop for doing some robot bonding with your child. Regress back to childhood for a while, let yourself go and take your chance at commanding the world. After the initial ‘cannot put it down’ phase is over, you could use this toy for fancy dress and during a game at your next childrens party.

Bumblebee Helmet – Are There Any Downsides?

There seem to be very mixed reviews about the quality of the Bumblebee Helmet. The top back portion of the helmet does need putting together. People are having difficulty fixing all the pieces together and keeping them together once made. As the refixing gets landed on the adults, the children do not seem affected and still value it as a toy. The size of the helmet is a little bulky so may be better for older children. It would not be so heavy on their heads. Make sure you at least stick with the 5+ age rating. There is also confusion as to the voice actions.  This is a voice mixer helmet not a voice changer. So it just projects your regular voice with some music, it does not make you sound like a robot.
